His ankles turn in a little when he walks, so his physiatrist prescribed braces. Amazingly, he doesn't seem to mind them, other than when the orthotist is present. I think I already see improvement in his balance and walking speed! He walks ALL the time now...butt scooting is no longer his favorite form of movement!
When he wears jeans, you can't even tell he has on braces. For now jeans, socks and shoes are perfect winter attire, so no special clothing changes are needed Summertime, however, may be a different story. But then again, maybe the problem will be corrected by the time bare feet and shorts are back in fashion.
An added blessing - we didn't have to buy new shoes to fit over the braces. His current pair, a hand-me-down from Jackson, works great!
