Last post I said I was thankful for eggs. Today I am thankful for trouble! For Chase getting into trouble!
Don't let that innocent face fool you! He's into trouble - and lots of it - these days!
It wasn't that long ago when he was a floppy little guy, content to lay on the floor, showing little interest in toys or exerting himself. And when he could finally sit by himself, he was pleased as punch to stay in that one spot.
The pony walker and butt scooting definitely opened up more doors to trouble!
But now that he is walking, trouble is his middle name! He loves to reach up on the counter or table and quickly grab whatever is in reach. We've had a lot of spilled bowls of cereal over the past couple of weeks. Reaching in and of itself is a huge thing for him. His therapists and I have been working a lot on the skill of putting his hands above his head. And now I get to reap (or clean up) the benefits of that mastered skill!
Case in point! It was a cozy Saturday morning. I was cuddled with Jackson and Reese on the couch reading a book. I thought Chase was playing in his room. About five minutes into our book, I realized that I no longer heard noise from Chase's room. In fact, I couldn't hear noise from him at all. So we went to investigate.
This is what we found!
Our little guy sitting on the kitchen floor, surrounded by crumbs, stuffing brownies into his mouth as fast as he could! The brownies, all seven or eight of them, had been on the counter. Pushed back. I thought they were out of reach. Guess not! He has a longer wingspan than I realized!
Crumbs were everywhere! He had butt scooted over a brownie or two, so you can imagine what his bottom looked like! I was sure that I would find several brownies when I turned the plate over. Nope! The little vulture had eaten or smooshed every last one of the treats!
Jackson, Reese and I couldn't help but laugh! And I can't help but be thankful that my little man can walk and reach and cause trouble. Even if it makes more work for me. I'll take it!
Two more reasons for thankfulness: We caught him before he butt scooted on the carpet with his brownie-covered bottom. And Matt changed the diaper that contained the effects of brownie consumption! I'm married to the best, most thoughtful man ever!
